How does it work?

Rad Readers runs in small, friendly online groups during term time. We meet once a week on Zoom for a live reading session. More days and times will be added after the Easter break.

There are currently two levels to choose from, with a third level coming soon:

  • Level 1 – roughly Year 4

  • Level 2 – roughly Year 5

  • Level 3 – coming soon (roughly Year 6)

Each term focuses on a new book or reading material.

Getting started is simple:

  1. Choose the group that feels right for your child

(see the level pages for details).

  2. Fill in the contact form to arrange a quick chat with Sophie.

  3. To secure your child’s place, payment is made in advance and their Rad Readers Pack will be posted out ready for the first session.

Courses run during term time and new reading material is chosen for each new term.

Rad Readers is a great fit for children who:

  • Are in Years 4-6

  • Can read but don’t enjoy it yet

  • Find longer books tricky or tiring

  • Need help with understanding stories and vocabulary

  • Lack confidence with reading

  • Say things like “reading is boring” or “I’m not very good at it”

If that sounds familiar, you’re in the right place.

Who is it for?

What do sessions look like?

Every live session is friendly, structured and supportive, and looks a little like this:

  • A short warm-up to help children feel comfortable

  • Guided group reading with Sophie

  • New words explored and explained in a child-friendly way

  • Time to talk about the story and ideas

  • Simple activities/ games to build understanding

  • A positive finish that celebrates progress

No pressure, just steady confidence-building shared sessions.

What else is included?

Each half term, children explore a range of reading material. From fiction books to magazines, comics and graphic novels. Your child will receive their own copy of the book or reading material for the term.

Also included:

  • Live, teacher-led online reading sessions

  • A child-friendly support pack (activity book, vocabulary boosters and reading cards)

  • Parent guidance to support reading at home

  • Access to online readings and session recordings

  • Access to an online reading tracker
